What a load of shite this thread is turning into...if you need the vets take your dogs..if you cant afford it and have fallen on hard times then by all means use the pdsa...after all..thats what its there for.

Mr FF I'm afraid hasn't fallen on hard times, I think you forget. He gets by ok, It's all about getting you priorities right and he hasn't in more than one way. And another thing doesn't Mr Fish smoke?

Just been looking in to getting my bitch insured. Can anyone recommend a decent insurance company that they have claimed from without hassel? Do you list your dogs as working dogs? I am quite happy to pay up to £30 a month if needed

 

I use Pet Plan (£90 excess but no percentage of the costs), not the cheapest but with some other insurance companies your vet will require you to pay up front and claim it back, which puts us back to the beginning of the problem again. A lurcher is a cross breed, you never say it was working/coursing/racing or whatever, it was just running in the fields. Also, make sure you use one that pays for life, not just for one year if your dog has an ongoing health problem.

I think if you look at my posts you'll find I didn't slag anyone off. I don't do that on public forums because I can't know someone else's life. As for insurance, let's face it, we're all penalised for those who just don't bother at all, eg car insurance. And I bet there's a fair few folk on here who have been ripped off by insurance companies - including me.

 

And one last thing, we all hope that nothing bad will ever happen to our dogs, but sometimes they do. I do my best to keep my dogs safe but a few years ago my whippet had an accident that was not her fault or mine, in fact it was caused by another dog at the park. I was skint at the time and had cancelled my insurance in favour of paying other bills. Net result was a bank loan that took me 2 and a half years to pay off at £79 a month and the dog still had to be put down. Boy do I wish I'd found the extra £20 a month for the insurance at the time! Lesson learnt.

I think if you look at my post I never said you slagged anyone off,I say these, meaning these people who r slagging fish fish off,I just thought it funny you bragging about dodgy insurance on the same topic,and this being one of the reasons insurance is pricey I'm not bothered if anyone wants to use pdsa or dodgy insurance haha got nothing to do with me wat yous do,

I maybe wrong and hands up if i am but you slag the rspca off and then want them to scratch your back. Buy a dog be prepared to look after it without hoping for freebees. I dont agree with rspca so i wont donate and i wont ask for their help
