baw 4,360
so then its all down to LUCK EXACTLY I think its a combination of a lot of things. I ain't too concerned about lineage as much as I am wanting the parents to be working stock. The most important thing a lurcher needs in its life is regular work. A dog which is out "learning" several times a week will do a lot better than a dog which is brought out the kennel when the notion arises. Quote Link to post

Dan Edwards 1,134
so then its all down to LUCK In alot of ways I'd say you are correct. You can up your odds though by taking on pups or dogs whose momma and daddy were rockstars. 1 Quote Link to post
optimus 447
DOES LUCK PLAY A HUGE PART, OR DO WE MAKE OUR OWN LUCK?????????? Edited March 18, 2011 by optimus Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
A great dog is made by a combination of luck, top genetics, good rearing, PRACTICE, a skilled man who trains/runs it, the life experiences it has that pan out for the best. . . . a good dog only has some of these. jmo. optimus 447
DO YOUR JOB WITH YOUR PUP THATS DECENTLY BRED. GOOD FOOD, TEACH OBEDIENCE,JUMPING,STOCKBREAKING etc, THEN ENTER THE DOG SENSIBILY, WHEN IT IS FIT & READY THEN "dont expect too much..but recognise what may be too little" ALL WE CAN DO IS THAT & HOPE THAT THE DOG MAKES THE GRADE or dare i say? Become "THAT SPECIAL ONE" (WITH ANY LUCK) Edited March 18, 2011 by optimus Quote Link to post
black recking it 730
I THOUGHT A DOG WAS ONLY THERE TO PLEASE IT,S OWNER NO MATER HOW IT WAS BRED IF YOU SHOW THEM THE BASIC,S AND HAVE PLENTY TO PUT INFRONT OF THEM YOU MIGHT FIND THE OWNER OF THE SO CALLED DOG MIGHT BE HAPPY WITH IT THE MORE IN FRONT OF IT THE BETTER THE DOG IT MIGHT MAKE TO PLEASE THE OWNER JUST MY OPINION Quote Link to post

THERE HAVE BEEN "FREAKS" THROWN OVER THE YEARS THAT HAVE BEEN "ROCKSTARS" BUT THINK HOW MANY THERE HAVE BEEN IN COMPARISON TO DECENT BREEDING,& WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SAW ONE ????
