artic 595
JR, what you feeding your dog? Some just do not put it on and are fit as fiddles, In 18yrs I've only had the need to breed twice, Saluki/collie/grey's and 4 out of 8 pups did not put it on, but mastered the fields to a T. And then there's those who's weight just fluctuate. Quote Link to post
Guest PIKEYLAMPER
It's replys like birds that really gets on my nerves, so what the dog looks a little underweight it might just be as fit as a flea, it's not a bull x it's a running dog. What's next bird? You gonna tell us how you feed bryn, an how fit bryn is? We all have to listen to bryn bryn fooking bryn.. Well done for gettin out pal, ignore the nob head comments. An bird you said you like to see no more than 3 ribs I see 5 in that picture you have put up... You tool.. i said 3 ribs yes, only as guide line. If you think that the dog in post (aint) udder weight, you must keep your dogs the same way then.? And regards Bryn he aint no special dog, just one who will try his best to catch what ever you put him on, and as done well at it so far, and he is a fit dog that fed right or he couldnt do what he does. Its a hunting site, and people like to put post+pics on it. Why dont you use it as such, and lets see your great hunting dogs+catchs, as you say it will be change from Bryns, carnt wait 3 ribs only as a guideline??? I admit the dog looks abit on the thin side. As for my dogs weight an condition thats something you will never get to see. sorry. An do you think the starter of this thread will post again after the shit a couple lads have give him. Ive read back on a couple of your replies to threads an i see you think 8 runs on rabbits takes the edge off your dogs on charlie. All i can say to that is your dogs either 1. Have got no wind 2. Are not as fit as you make out As for pictures of what i get up to it wouldnt be wise to show people if you get what i mean. Any chance of a picture of bryn dont think we have had one for a whole day, is he ok? Quote Link to post

I've owned pure Saluki and Saluki hybrids, and I know some are very hard to put, and keep, wheight on, but that dog IS showing a lot of bone ! Cheers. Quote Link to post
iceman001979 1,316
The dog looks like something out of a rspca advert, it ran 5 rabbits ffs if it carnt hold weight after running that many rabbits there is something seriously wrong with its diet. your dog is under weight, ok most salukixs dont carry weight. But (any) dog should carry weight on its back, to see 3 ribs is all you should see on any lurcher, no matter what the x. Feed the dog 1lb meat+meal every day and they should+will work better BIRD go into the topic forley cup page 15 till me if that dog is under weight????? Quote Link to post

JR Yipp 111
also first impression is that that dog is underweight, nothing in this thread has convinced me otherwise. some dogs will run up light but true "fit to work" dogs will hold their weight, not pop bellied after being fed but a nice covering of muscle and condition. truly fit dogs will not waver and they certainly will not look like that. there's some old hands and knowledgeable folk commenting on these facts, perhaps it would be worth considering for the dogs sake, even if you cant admit it to others it would be worth admitting to yourself. makes me wonder what other folks dogs look like or what they consider fit or wether theyve even seen a properly fit dog.
