You can put a small dog in a big hole but you can't put a big dog in a small hole, thats my rule of thumb.I was told that by an old hunt terrierman years ago and it certainly stands true.I have seen far too many big dogs that just can't get to their fox.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. ;)

ive seen big and small terriers work, and they both get the job done at the end of the day, so i dont think it matters what size.

What about if you have more than 1 bottled up and they are determined to go past your dog, a smaller dog IMO will just not have the strength to hold them no matter how big a heart they have, in some situations you need a dog with a bit of weight to get the job done right. ;)

personally i like the bigger type dog 14" to the leg mainly b'cous of the ground we hunt, loads of levels round her,a smaller type just wouldnt be able to get to where he needed to be to get to foxy all this stuff about "he's to big" or "he's to small for the job is a load of b******s size dont come into it,it's all down to what the dog got ,seen some big terriers in some tight places where you'ed never think they'ed get,not knocking the smaller type but when the goin get tuff the big get goin different dogs for different jobs i think :drink:

:hmm: Not so sure on the bigger terrier getting where the smaller terrier can get, it just cant be possible.

Nixy that animal looks like it will do the job for you matey, one thing though, don't think its too big or too small or we will all end up like the show fraternity, breeding for looks and not work. Go with what you've got and try and bring the best out of him ;)
