Rik 49
Driving along today and saw a farmer filling his tractor up with diesel in his yard, so being the opportunist I am, pulled in to speak to him. I asked him if he had any problems with rats around his buildings or charlies around his lambs, and if he had any terrier work for me. He replied "you'll have to speak to the keeper, he sorts it all out" and told me where I could find him. I drove down the road a couple of miles and met the keeper (who the farmer had already phoned). After speaking to him about what kind of terrier work I was looking for, he said "Oh God yeh, I could do with some help, I dont have any terriers so have just been rifling foxes with little success". We spoke for a while, exchanged names and numbers and in a fortnight's time I am meeting him to show me the layout of the land, boundaries etc. So just shows you that knocking on doors does pay off Quote Link to post

fat man 4,741
Ask and you shall recieve, too many dont ask and go on land regardless of what the owner says and eventually get themselves ran along with lads that have permission because the farmer is pissed with the whole lot,and the easiest way is to stop everyone from goin on the land. Coyotehunter 689
Its amazing how many farmers and keepers would let lads on if they just went and spoke to them, put a clean shirt on and try and not look like your part of a paramilitary group and in most cases, if done properly farmers will give you permission, anyway good on you Rik Quote Link to post
