Disposing of a shotgun

Recommended Posts

I noticed on the certificate it says "notify police of theft, lending, sale or disposal of a shotgun" or something along those lines.

My question is how would you go about "disposing" of a gun? Do you have to have certificates to show it's been disposed of? Or do you have to take it to the police and let them do it?

I don't need to get rid of one, I just wondered the process.

iF you want to dispose of a gun, you can simply take it to a gun shop and they wiil write on a transfer form and your certificate that you have transferred the gun to the shop, and give you a transfer form for you to sign and send off to your local police firearms office. All in all no different to buying and selling one.

Take it to a local gun shop. i took an old single barrel that i used to blast crows With out of tractor when ploughing but ended up getting one for free in better condition. i couldnt even give it away. i didnt want it anymore and it was worth nothing so they disposed of it for free.end of that. Got a receipt and .next time my licence was renewed it was taken off.atb rich
