Got home yesterday to find that my harris has caught the top of his beak on something resulting in a bloody nose!! anything i can do to clean/dress it?

hes been free lofted now for about 9 days and hes never managed to hurt himself before?? any help will be greatly recieved

take him to the vets and keep im bowed down so he carnt do anymore damage if hes bleeding from the nostril it could be really serious better to be safe than sorry best of luck john.

cheers mate yea im going to take him to the vets, hes not bleeding from the nostril its right at the top of his beak, cant understand why or how hes done it?? you think somethings spooked him? or is it more likely hes tried to get at something?

they sometimes go scatty have you got mesh on your avery or bars because mesh does cause a lot of problems ie feather damage,broken talons and other injurys,put some dry antiseptic poder on it and keep an eye on im cheers john.

i had a similar thing happen to me last week to my male hh , like a graze above his beak . i was trying to work ou what he had done when the fella next door told me two cats had been on top of his aviery harrasing him , atb mick

i caught him the other day flying at a magpie that had rested on the aviary, bloody mental arnt they? ive just spoke to my avian vet and he said that the best thing to do is clean the wound with a saline sollution and then apply a small amount of sudocrem to the graze for a few days, he also said i should put some extra vertical bars down the front of his aviary to act as a visual deterent to him... hope this works cheers for the comment

just the job mate vertical bars save a lot of damage,hope hes ok john.

id love to get some footage of him during the day and see what he gets up to!! ive been putting the sudocrem on now for nearly a week and the graze has all but healed up now, put some vertical bars down the front of the aviary so hopfully thatl be the end of his head butting!! cheers for all the comments guys, very useful place to ask questions this forum :thumbs:
