A look for a farmer

Recommended Posts

Farmer phoned to say he was putting lambs out last weekend and could we have a look in the usual places for a vixen to ground that he'd seen previous in the area .The earth we finally found in is a sprawling place of 50 odd holes ,shallow but part rabbity ,ideal for a vixen and cubs .

Fresh digging and scrapes greeted us in this place that boosted morale straight away as we'd traipsed the land all morning looking for a mark in some deep old places. This earth has been good to us over the years but has been dead since boxing day :boogie: .Mates rough coated pat marked at both ends of the earth before being allowed in .She can be annoying in that she races around baying at nothing until finding so you just have to switch off for a while until shes on .We had to open up to her at one point 4 mark to allow her on a bit but the next mark was good and i knew she had a fox in a stop end by the sounds coming from the nearest hole .She has no respect for a fox at all and flies in to kill it if she can.

We broke through at point 7 to find her fast hold of the foxes throat and in the last stages of putting its lights out .Seperating the two i shot the vixen with the .410 as per the farmers wishes .Still pregnant so no cubs to find.
