I can remember reading in one of my old falconry books that falconers used to put a ferret in an upside down fish tank in an aviary with the bird loose. The bird couldn't connect to the ferret becaus eof the glass, and after a few tries would give up!

I've no idea whether this would work or not, but may be worth a try! I used to make sure that my birds could see my ferrets all the time and therefore become almost de-sensitised to them.

Are you using albino's, as these really stand out in a birds eye in the heat of the moment, whereas a poley may look rabbit coloured in a flash.

found if my birds weight is sharper even1/4 oz less than normal she will go for the ferts

otherwise she will sit on the posts and not bat an eyelid at them also as the season goes on muscle builds up its heavier than an equal size of fat or food in the gut so a muscly well flown bird will be a lot keener than a bird at the same weight thats not flying so much so by the end of the season the birds responseiveness should be

tha same at 2.4 as it was at2.25 at the begining just numbers for an example

its like comparing a 16 stone couch potatoe to 16 stone bodybuilder if you fed them the same the bodybuilders wght would decrease and hunger kick in long before the couchpotatoe

so in theory a slight increase in wght should help as long as its alongside an increse of fitness and muscle
