Kay 3,709
I am a believer in saying it as it is.. good straight forward advice told from experience or the heart is what newbies need .. not backbiting & silly name calling The issue of breeding come up year in year out .. maybe one well put together pinned post outlining the positive & negative of breeding .. then point newbies to that locked pinned thread It saves all the silly '' here we go again'' type comments  Quote Link to post
tote 854
one or two pinned threads that are locked and can only be edited by a select few who know there stuff addin content they know will be helpfull is whats needed.aye not everyone will read it,but if two out of five do then its still doing the job.when people do repeat posts we can link them to the pinned threads saying have a read over that mate. Who decides who the "select few" are. Just recently we have had varying answers on the same subjects, for example a jill being in season. You've got to take her out of season or she will die. You've got to take her out of season or she will lose condition and become lethargic. She can remain in season with no ill effects just make sure you keep her hutch clean. Take her out of season with a vac hob or implant or jill jab. The jill jab has side effects and shouldn't be used. Maybe after reading the above a pinned section might not be as straight forward as people think. I think stubby's right, the search option would give the user more answers on his chosen topic and after reading through them he'll find out what he's wanting to know. Quote Link to post

Thats the whole point of a discussion forum though.. heated debates & differing opinions.. the forum as a whole would be great if it was like that.. but it isnt ... its simply a place where people exchange insults When a newbie asks a question on any given part of the forum if people cant even be polite enough to give a constructive answer drawn from there own experience they should keep there trap shut ... it becomes so obvious in a very short space of time as to who is genuine & who is basically just on here for the sheer hell of it Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,935
I don`t really see many sensible posts getting shot down Oz, debate is healthy and it`s how we all learn more. If people rip in to someone for posting a stupid question, they are still learning something,,even if it`s just that there question was stupid. Having a thick skin is a requirement of being on a forum with 32,492 members. If you can`t take the heat etc!! try posting on the lurcher forum,, they are much more forgiving ! Over the last year or so the ferret section has been going the same way as the lurcher section and it's not for the better. I don`t think so ! the ferret forum has some piss taking at this time of year but other than that it`s a pretty friendly forum my moto is aint got out nice to say to a thread dnt say f****ll. The peson tht posts is postin 4 a reason, nt to get stick pal So we should only speak when we are saying something that you think is nice!! Man there are some sensitive souls on here lately!!! I`ll politely and constructively take the piss !! Sensitive souls indeed,, this forum is chock full of folk who will give good advise,,and piss taking is to be expected. Lets face it Kay,, you`ve read some of the post where quite unbelievable questions have been asked,, did you seethe or did you constructively advise ?? sometimes yeh cannae help it !! THE GRIFF 8
Sometimes its good to ask questions that have already been asked, it gives newer members chance to answer the same question that might have a different answer or oppinion than the people that have previously answered. The people that have previously answered a question may also have a different oppinion due to more experiance or newer equipment or ideas may have been thought of to deal with a particular situation since to question was asked a couple of years ago. In short, a new debate on the same topic can sometimes be intresting, if you dont like seeing the same thread then dont read/answer it(simple as that). Quote Link to post
the big oz 5
ancer that rake boot if u dnt lyk seeing same thread dnt read /ancert it. It is simple. Kay 3,709
Its pretty pointles pinning every ferret related issue & locking it .. you may as well shut down the forum & just use it for reference purposes It shouldnt matter how basic the questions are being asked.. the point of a big forum in reality is that there will be a vast wealth of knowledge within its membership & that wealth of knowledge can give newbies a variety of possible solutions to any given problem In a few months time there will be a lot of '' kits biting me threads'' started up.. there will be be various methods discussed.. so the op goes away with a few things to try & stop the biting. Isnt that the way it should be .. we all started somewhere .. some learn from there mistakes i know i have & some no matter what you advise some wont take a blind bit of notice .. its life simple really Quote Link to post

Try reading you past threads and looking for the bits where I gave you some pointers on where to get help, Then try looking for the bits where you went in the huff,, Then look for the bits where you were warned to learn to spell. Saying no more on it ,in case I upset some wee lamb ! ATB Quote Link to post
