Trying Ash Long Net Pegs ......!

Recommended Posts

Had the good fortune to find a good supply of walking stick shanks, thumb sticks and long net pegs from some self-set ash saplings.

They are to be grubbed out soon so getting a good store of useful shanks and pegs before they have gone. Done a batch today that are ready for drying out for next seasons campaign ....I have always used Hazel in the past so i will see how these perform in the field.

I doubt you'll notice any difference next season between the ash and hazel  I certainly have nt.I use sweet chestnut, privet, haw and blackthorn as well as willow and find them certainly equal to hazel for the job

I put this up once before that a old boy in the pub swore by them and said something about ash having a higher water content making them more flexible and less prone to snap than hazel .But if they are free so what if they only last one season .
