Rolfe 2
Had the good fortune to find a good supply of walking stick shanks, thumb sticks and long net pegs from some self-set ash saplings. They are to be grubbed out soon so getting a good store of useful shanks and pegs before they have gone. Done a batch today that are ready for drying out for next seasons campaign ....I have always used Hazel in the past so i will see how these perform in the field. Quote Link to post
Leeview 791
I doubt you'll notice any difference next season between the ash and hazel I certainly have nt.I use sweet chestnut, privet, haw and blackthorn as well as willow and find them certainly equal to hazel for the job Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post
oakey 57
I put this up once before that a old boy in the pub swore by them and said something about ash having a higher water content making them more flexible and less prone to snap than hazel .But if they are free so what if they only last one season .
