The're not waterproof, and like all swanni's wheigh a ton when wet ! For the price you pay in the UK, (£160-£200),you could get a decent waterproof jacket. Cheers. Quote Link to post
bedrock 16
They have a massive following, people love them, you hear allot of storeys about how amazing they are but really they are no better than any wool pullover. if you want wool get a waterproof tweed jacket 10 times better. Red_Grouse 0
I dont have an orignal one from New Zealand however i rate mine very highly certainly for stalking on the hill! Mines is a bushman shirt and the thing i dont like about it is the lack of pockets however none the less really like mine! Quote Link to post

herdwick 52
They are made in China now and although not quite the same they still do the biz. I bought my first one when the only alternative was wax cotton. Got comments like "Forgot to take your dressing gown off then" (I had a blue n black check bush shirt) Shut every bugger up one very wet shoot day when I was the only dry person at the end of the day! Yes, they do get heavy when wet but you will stay warm, even in a wet swannie. Body heat stops wet coming through but lean against something, or take it off, and the wet will come through. I was told to always shake it well when you take it off. Best one is the Rover jacket, with the blanket lining. Stay dry all day, regardless of the weather. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Rugged-Outdoors-NZ-Bush-Shirts?_trksid=p4340.l2563 Got my last swannie from here. Bloody good service and never had trouble with customs either. Quote Link to post
