tote 854
Just wondering what all you rabbitcatchers do with the coneys you catch? If I have a good sized bag of clean rabbits[ferreted or long netted] I will dress them for the butcher. Lurchered or shot rabbits go to the dogs and ferrets. Every now and then my son Declan[9] and I will sit down to a platefull of casseroled rabbit and salad potatoes, beautifull. Can't get the wife or oldest son,Dylan[12] to try it. Quote Link to post

mooster 1
Much the same as above really. By the end of last year i felt like i had tried every recipe and the ferrets got more and more of the catch! Wife and teenagers have never eaten rabbit which seems a common thread for some reason. As a kid we ate quite a bit so it comes naturally i suppose. I agree with Yokel...I absolutely love to find my quarry, catch it, prepare it and eat it. I still find it difficult not to let out a "mmmmm" sound when i'm tucking ino a rabbit that was roaming wild earlier that day.I always think i will be able to sell them or give them away but somehow can always find a more pleasant way to dispose of them! Iam mates with two keepers both of which have wives who will only eat out of a supermarket. My first misses (bitch) would say your not getting me or the kids to each that rubbish, its disgusting. pilgrim1982 0
I have eaten every rabbit i have killed. The dogs usually get to have a bit to. They like the liver and kidneys. Rabbit stewed with baby onions in tomato and red wine sauce is one of my favourite dishes. Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,693
hey pilgrim fair shout, eat every one you have caught, i just went through my records for the last twelve months, i worked it out that i would have to eat 9.75 rabbits every day of the year. i just dont think i am man enough for that. . Before anyone starts on about bragging, i just thought it would be funny to work out. All of mine are now sold, but we still keep a few for us and the dogs, and not forgetting the ferrets of course.
