Bitch or Dog

Recommended Posts

I do and will own and work both dogs and bitches but if I had to choose to keep one or the other the it would be dogs every time for me. I personly find them less deceitfull and beleive it or not in my kennles if it "kicks off" I can nearly always be sure its two bitches at it.

I find that you know were you are a little more with a dog than a bitch even though they can be a little harder to keep on top of but having said all of this I have to admit that of all the good working dogs I know probably more than half are bitches.

Your right about the bitchs fighting dogs fight for top dog then it stops where I no by personal experience bitchs fight to the death

yeah had two collie bitches (litter sisters) on the farm once had to be separated so my uncle down the valley had one, but whenever they set eyes on eachother they would run at each other and go at it hammer and tongs!! this happened all their lives?? but i do and have kept both dogs and bitch terriers, but prefer a bitches methodical approah to working?

have used both bitches and dogs in the past (just dogs now as they are kept indoors).

found the bitches slower to start but use the head more (apart from biting!!) once going they are steady.

dogs seem keener to start but seem to get keener the more experiance they get. either becoming suicidal (on larger quarry) or learning their lesson and thinking a wee bit too lol.

bth have their merrits.

a well trained dog/bitch from good stock, given the time should realise its potential.

as above i have had two bitches ( a parson and a working fox terrier) which could not be let anywhere near each other!!!!

but i am sure that two "alpha" dogs would have behaved the same way.

i have to agree with bitches being deceitful, you know when my dog is ready for battle as he goes mental, the bitch is sat around placid as could be one moment and locked on to quarry a second later, starting to wonder if shes got some bull blood in her as once her jaw is locked no-one can prize it open

I DUNNO WHERE YOU ALL GET THIS BITCHES ARE MORE LOYAL CRAP FROM. YOU ONLY GET FROM A DOG OR A BITCH WHAT YOU PUT IN. MAYBE IF MORE PPL GOT DOGS/BITCHES FROM 6 WEEKS OLD, REARED THEM TO WORKING AGE AND KEPT THEM TIL RETIREMENT OR CULLED IF FAILED WE WOULDN'T HAVE TO READ AS MUCH NONSENSE ON HERE!!!

ive got 3 dogs, 2 are young pups, only owned one bitch and sum c**t ran her over and drove off, the bitch was very loyal and my older dog now is loyal to a certain degree but always wants to do his own thing, he fits his name tho 'mustard' lol

I keep both but I love digging to a good bitch more than a dog for so reason. I find bitches mature quicker and start work sooner than dogs.maybe I'm just biased cause my best terrier is a bitch
