i can dig up photos of the shed to prove it, the man that originally built the shed is dead nearly 20yrs, doubt id need a waste carrier licence to clear metal off my own land, and ive to dig the girders up first, bollox of a neighbour buryied them 2yrs ago when he demolished the shed for my parents and they didnt know any better :wallbash:

i dont no how it works in ireland but over here they have there own police looking for stuff stolen from along the rail lines and the sentences are steep if you get caught with anything they own!!! probs be best to ring around first to be safe but good luck whatever you decide :victory:

edited to add, just read your last reply im not saying you stole them but the railway still own them either way i could get tonnes and tonnes of old girders that i no are never gonna be used again on the tracks but i dont as its just not worth the hassle

drive around any part of ireland and you'll find girders being used as gateposts and a lot of haysheds are built useing them, i even remember an incident about a year ago at drumshanbo horse auction involving a traveller who'd stolen 2 cut down girders from a farmyard, the farmer left with them in the boot of his car after the garda were involved, no mention of the railway, garda arent harassing the scrap dealers over here either or id have heard of it by now

i doesnt matter if its from youre own place you still need a waste lisence. if you go on the invironment aggency web site it says you need one even if you put rubbish in the boot of your car and take to the dump even if its just a one off  crazy i know. and as for the rail track it still belongs to the rail company regarless of how old or were its been. i know someone who found copper cable dumped at the side of the road took it in for scrap then got arrested as it belonged to BT and nobody but BT are ment to have it  just noticed youre in ireland, must be different rules over there.
