Ricky-N.p.p 0
Ok lads on the last two outings i have had a rabbits full of young, normally i would call that the end of my season but i cant help feel that the season has been verry verry short, do you think that with climate change we just have to accept that we are gonna get pregnant does or a shorter season ? opinoins please Quote Link to post
Guest Bigbob
The seasons deffinatly are getting shorter there places you cant get into to ferret because there no frosts to kill the cover . Last year we took more rabbits in the summer months with the rimmy than ferreting during the autumn and winter months .Even if i have to stop ferreting i will still run the fenn mk6s or snares till about april .A small rabbit is just a nice sized meal for a ferret bitch on her own to eat in one go so reduces the waste and flies so i dont feel guilty about killing them Quote Link to post

SeanTheHawker 0
climate change will make a winters colder...... summers like spain, winters like canada this is just a mild winter this Quote Link to post

staffy-1 0
Seans true mate, the gulf stream is getting slower....and without that..very cold winters. this is dur to one of the worlds 'engines' what moves the gulf stream. Something to do with the warm water rising to the top and cold water going to the bottom of the oceans. So as the cold water is running out, the warm water 'Conveyor belt' of the gulf stream is slowing down....and with the gulf stream usually bringing us5-8 oCthan we should have........if it stops we will be very cold in the winter and very warm in the summer. This would be chaos for britains wildlife.....Not bad for a fifteen year old???? well if you get it Quote Link to post

blakfut 0
Last few trips out we've been getting more & more with a belly full of young, if we stop ferreting now that would make breeding season longer for the rabbits resulting in a population exploion, the farmers would not be happy and start looking for alternative method of control. IanB 0
The young around me are ready for young now , plenty of fist sized and half grown rabbits around. Quote Link to post
tote 856
Up here we have young rabbits in most of the buries so I think the games a bogey The way I look at it is if I stop early i'll get started early as well, the begining of August should find the buries full of full and 3/4 sized rabbits,if the myxy keeps away.
