Working Clumbers

Recommended Posts

Cheers watchman i had a look at that earlier, just wondered if anyone has first hand experience. They look a very steady type of dog not nuts like most springers or cockers, i also liked the look of those sussex spaniels. we dont see much of this type of dog up here on any of the shoots mores the pity. people prefer the dash and drive of the faster dogs. seeing a lot of pointer crosses lately

Have owned a sussex (worked and kept to use as an outcross experiment to see if it would increase the size/fix colour and add a degree of steadiness to my line of cockers) and seen clumbers pick up non of them are a patch on a well bred springer or cocker though they are defiantly slower/steadier than some of the more ftch oriented lines of spaniel.

saw one up at a place called wooler in northumberland couldnt fault it in any way not as hard working as a cocker[my dog] or a springer but a canny dog all the same not my kind of dog tho as i like the hustle and bustle of the cocker

I think Hendo on this site got one last year.

Dave.

Alright Dave,

Your right mate, i got 'Willow' last year from a gentleman in Nottingham, she's from working lines ( Sedgehurst mainly )

she's a great pup very lively, not a lump of a dog by any means, i would say the size of a ESS, im going to put her through her training soon and see what she's made of, i'm sure she'll make the grade.

Hendo
