Hunting Lad 50
Personally I would probs go for the stronger type dog if I was to get another bullx but to be honest as long as they are catching and doing there job I would be fussed if it was a heavy type or racy... So either or for me Quote Link to post

tb25 4,627
I know alot of people on this forum do and dont like bull x's so I was just wondering the ones who do like the bull x's which ones do you prefer the racey type or the big headed heavy type? As they both do the job very well! Or are you not bothered either way? The big headed bit don't make one bit of difference, as my old mate used to say, big heads don't catch foxes, long legs do..! Though so far, looks like I'm the only one who would go for the stronger type, half cross prefered. Must be of the right type though and all in proporton, bred from the right stuff, these types will be racey enough 'match fit', you only have to look to the genuine game dogs to see how they cut up. I don't want a film star, just an honest dog! Oh and lets not forget, without the halfs, the racy types wouldn't exsist. i do agree on the legs mate but do you think bigger head = bigger jaw = better grip??? genuine question on this thread id have a well bred half cross any day ive seen and own dogs bred this way plenty fast enough for daytime rabbits lol the bull terrier is one of the most athletic dogs ever some of the things they can do is truly unbelievable and adding greyhound to that mix is only helping on that front my bitch is over half bull grey and is probably the best allrounder ive ever had best dogs in the world imo bully looking racey looking hate to brown nose but this bitch is a cracker..and looks better in person,,,,how old is she in the bottom pic jimmu Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
Jimmy, your dead right with your big head = etc Though what i'm reffering too is that when it comes to catching stuff, thats where it don't make the difference. Yer, a good strong head can come in very handy sometimes but as long as a dogs bonce is in proportion and the dog is all in good proportion then that'll do...! With good bull blood in your dog you should never need breed for a big head, point is, no one should ever look to head size when breeding anyway, there are much, much more important qualitys that we all should strive for when breeding, in any type of Lurcher!
