If you entered a galgo into a single handed best of three in the UK, I wouldnt be keen to back you, but its great to see working greyhound lines with far better working physiqe than the UK greyhounds, the stamina is way up, and the feet and general conformation are better suited to chasing wild game. I often wonder why they arent used more often in UK breeding, instead of the shite that I keep seeing used?

Ive seen Galgoes run blacktail jackrabbit and on the same trip I got to see pur saluki run on the same New Mexico desert while there on a visit with another hunter I witnessed saluki/coyotee hound dogs run black tail jack he also ran a couple of his straight coyotee hounds . Its hard to compare the jack to the brown hare the jack is a lighter built aminal than the brown hare but I would say from what I saw the speed and endurance is about the same. of the 13 dogs I saw run on that trip I would have gladly taken home the 2 saluki/coyoteehounds and the 2 male galgoes unfortunately i didnt get to see these 2 groups of dogs run against one another but both groups were very impressive.

the galgo I beleve is a mix of deerhound, greyhound, saluki, Ibizanhound/padengo and perhaps Sloughi in other words a good longdog breed for is job.

would be interesting to see them running single handed on our native brown. may well of bin a handy dog pre ban . as far as in no any brought into the uk are done so through rescue services and neutered  might well of bin a handy dog to add into a breeding program here rather than our track greyhounds .

I imagine this is what our greyhounds were like before they were bred solely for speed around the track. They were used for coursing only until the 1920's.

How lucky those guys are to be able to express themselves in the ancient way without fear of Big Brother descending in a helcopter....

Bravo Espania....long may you hold your freedom!
