Seasoning firewood

Recommended Posts

Just wondered if anyone on here cuts their own firewood and how long they season it for. I've looked on google and had very varying answers.

Ive split a decent sized heap of logs, predominantly oak, and was wondering how long before I should consider burning it. Its stacked under cover and split to the size I burn on our logburner.

Thanks for looking

Abley- The best firewood is of coarse hardwood which you have but it should also have good moisture content. By that I mean if you let it dry to long its overall burn wouldn’t put the BTU’s out and be very fast. I like to cut /split in the late winter/spring stack and cover. Let the air blow through and it can be burned in the fall.
