Any litters out there or on the way ?

Not really sure what I'm looking for to be honest it's gona be my first lurcher, i don't plan on having more than one so would like a bit of an all rounder , but mainly rabbits ferreting and mooching day time , and hoping do some lamp work 2, I would like summit that would take the old smelly on the od occasion but I suppose that's not essential really , deff want a bitch and as young as possible really as I have small kids and would feel better if I had a pup that has grown up with them

Been looking at collie/greys

And saluki/greys. But No hard and fast really just don't want a big heavy old bull x as would be no good for day time bunnies , and don't want anything 2 short really either

My advice would be to do a lot more thinking and a lot more planning and go see a lot more dogs work/run before you jump into buying a pup that could be with you for the next ten years plus.

I understand and appreciate what you are saying , have done a lot of reading and planing kennel is neally finished out the garden.

I will admit tho have seen vary few dogs working , but looking for mainly a rabbit dog , in ideally I'd like a 1/4 collie grey but I now there are plenty of other dogs that will suet my needs and that's y i thought there no need to limit my self to the one kind of x's

All right mate, i'd still suggest you spend the next month at least going for a walk with as many folk off here and anywhere else that you can and see some dogs in the flesh and see what takes your fancy, it's also a good way to meet folk into dogs and find out about what pups might be about in the future.

Given your criteria i would say that the exact breed/x of dog isn't that important, there are a large range of first and 3/4 crosses that would do what you want, and an indefinite number of combinations. What is more important is finding a liter bred out of two dogs that you quite like the look/feel/temperament of and that are doing to a high standard the job you require your pup to do in the future, and that has been well reared.

To be honest temperament has been vary much on my mind also, as I would like the dog to be a part of the family as well as a working dog , and for that reason I am not really wanting any thing with much if any bull in it at all , my childrens safety is paramount

If you are keeping it out you want a dog with a rough coat I know smooth will live out if the housing is good but a dog with a good coat will cope better probably a Deerhound x Whippet if you can find one a good hardy x.This x should take with the correct entering whatever you run it on .
