Ideation 8,216
My grandfather used to keep similar dogs when he lived in India, i think there are some old photos/slides somewhere i must dig them out and scan them one day. He said they used to hunt anything with them, mainly pigs, deer and small ground game such as baboons etc, but they also took part in hunting leopard, wild dogs, and even a man eating tiger once (they were often worked along side a gun as well). They were also general guard/compound dogs. He said the ones he had were local running dogs, with a bit of hound in the mix, both local and imported. He also claimed that some of the dogs had greyhound blood in them from dogs taken over by whites. But he said the best dogs were just bitzas made up of local sighthounds/curs/hunting hounds. skycat 6,173
I noticed the feet as well: I guess that form really must follow function out there, and anywhere where only the best and toughest survive. Need good feet to run on rock hard ground all the time. Quote Link to post
fresh earth 47
Would think that had running dog in the mix as the bullykutta is normaly alot more put together although i have seen some from certain regions alot more lean made. They have different strains with visual differences regions to region and they breed the strains true to type. Iv spoken to a few blokes for a fair amount of time face to face and have met a few specimens myself when i was heavily interested in the bull breeds in my late teens. Some nice looking hounds though and can deff see the saluki influince in alot of the dogs. Quote Link to post
fresh earth 47
Also pic ten is the same dog as in pic 11 i would say just from different angle . Quote Link to post
