Ideation 8,216
Its an american company doing the census and under the patriot act they got to give up all personal and private info collected to the government.
scalesntails 118
why do the yanks get it ? Because all American companies have to supply all personal information they receive to the US government under the patriot act. Labour purposely gave the census contract to Lockheed Martin an American defence contractor with no experience running surveys etc for this very reason. It would have been better and cheaper to get a UK based survey company e.g. Ipsos-Mori to do it.

dreamcatcher 0
Aint recieved one yet , cant say i'll be filling it out when i do , not been paraniod but why would anyone want their personal info stored by the U.S ive put mine in the bin, i had one from the council last year, i binned that too, i had a poxy snotty nosed council officer come round asking questions regarding why it hasnt been filled in and was i aware i was liable to pay 1000 fine, i politely told him , and i am not in the habit of giving my details to the council, so they can sell it on to other parties, as seen in a documentry on tv last year, i also told him, if you want to fine me, i will offer you a pound a week, now piss off, ive heard nothing since,

Totaly agree! Just read if they're not in by a certain date they send somone round to fill them in. what the fucks the country coming to when we're all forced to declear nearly all our personal info......... I wonder what hours the census nosey twats work? With me working 70 hours per week and being out fishing, shooting or at the gym at night during the week and at weekends the only time to catch me at home is between half ten / eleven at night and half six / seven in the morning. Firstly, the "census twats" are just people like you and me trying to earn a few quid in hard times. Secondly, I don't get the big fuss. There has been a census every ten years since 1841. The company that are running the census are Capita, who have tenuous links to a US defense company, but it is a UK company. I've not checked the relevant law, but the data is to be handled in the UK so data protection should mean it can't be passed to the US government. The whole point of the census is to allow for proper planning. Whether the government can get it right or not depends in part on how accurate the info is, so if you don't respond, you kind of lose your right to complain that your views are not listened to. It's a bit like not voting in an election.
