sjy 16
thinking of buying browning xbolt 243 with smit 8x56 scope any veiws on this set up Quote Link to post
Colster 1
Second hand? Same would go for any second hand centrefire, check the barrel hasn't been shot out but as a gun they're spot on. If you're looking at new, I'd save a few quid and get an A-Bolt, cheaper and better mag system. Edited March 10, 2011 by Colster Quote Link to post

Colster 1
Ah ok, I'd have a good look at the A-Bolt too if you can then. The stocks are supposed to be a bit nicer on the X-Bolt and the safety works differently (you can remove the bolt with the safety on) but I really like the magazine and floorplate combination on the A-Bolt. Gloop 5
X bolt I am told is more accurate than the Abolt as it is bedded in better. But the trigger is heavy and a spare mag is £50. S Saying that my xbolt does not seem to be bullet fussy and I am happy with it. Just got used to the trigger I spose Quote Link to post
scruff 1
I had browning x bolt bought new in 22-250 and thought it was terrible. The trigger was shocking at best and further more, the self adjusting system was poor. I did take the rifle to two gun smiths, and neither could help because the nice people at browning thought it would be a good idea to glue all the screws inplace, so nobody could tamper with the trigger unit, not a bad idea if the trigger was good enough to begin with. I thought the trigger was so poor, and with no options to improve it the rifle had to go within the first month dispite a massive financial loss. Point is if you get a bad one your stuck with it!!! I also thought the foreend of the stock was flimsy and when fitted with a bipod an over barrel mod would touch the feet of the bipod whilst folded away. I'm sure there will be x bolts with half decent triggers but the rifle overall isn't good enough to risk any amount of money in my opinion. Edited March 11, 2011 by scruff Quote Link to post
