Obedience of lurchers??

Recommended Posts

BIG ZOOK is an ANTI, stop playing into his hands.

The fact is he can call dogs off quarry says it all.

I can call mine off am I an anti as well .You sound like a few so called dog men I know making assumptions based on limited intellect .I don,t know who BIG ZOOK is but if their biggest problem is having a well behaved dog good luck to them.I was told by many that my dogs were,nt proper working dogs because I could recall them mid course, apparently they are lacking heart, drive, and what it takes, whatever that is .As the season ends it has become obvious that my well behaved heartless gutless dogs have accounted for more than twice the head of quarry that that these proper dogs have.I must admit not all my dogs are so good but I,ll keep working on the problems until they are fewer and life out and about with them becomes far less stressful there,s nothing like the company of friends hunting with well behaved dogs ,As there is nothing worse than hunting with a prat with a dog that,s out of control.I no longer hunt with people I don,t know well as dogs that are unruly are no fun to be out with.A few I have run with in the past have used the same bull it,s the breed it shows they are keen if it,s like that it must be a good un.Some of these men have had dogs for 30 or 40 years but seem to know nothing about dogs I wont embarrass them by naming them but many are well known in the dog world and one in particular you dont teach a dog by hanging it by the lead and kick the shit out of it you know who you are. ya said you have called them off mid course!

why would ya want to call your dog off("mid course") when its chasing game   ???

that makes no sence to me.

as i have said when mine are chasing they wont stop for nothing.imho thats down to prey drive and not for lack of training.

if you can call yours off then i would be questioning the dog,s prey drive or question of the truth you speak.

mine are keen and dont have any bull blood but i will agree some folk think it has to have bull in the makeup to have a keen dog and i also know some that have been at it before i was born and i believe they dont have a clue.but

even if i could get mine to call of a course, get it to do handstands, cartwheels or play poker then why would i want it to do any of these

is it that the dog is obedient, scared shitless of his master,or dont have the prey drive as i for one wouldnt want and couldnt call my dogs off once there off the mark runnin at game a thats what there BRED to do!

cheers mate, so there was bit hunting involved

YES THERE WAS JUDGING OF WORKING STANDARDS AT THE FINALS AT BLAIRGOWRIE...HOWEVER THE EGO OF CERTAIN ORGANISERS FROM THE NL&RC LED TO THE DECLINE OF WHAT STARTED AS AN EXCELLENT IDEA FOR PROMOTING THE LURCHER & RESPONSIBLE OWNERSHIP, THE LURE OF APPEARING IN AN ARTICLE BY A CERTAIN AUTHOR IN THE COUNTRYMANS WEEKLY WAS MORE IMPORTANT THAN CONTINUING SENSIBLE HANDLING OF THE FIELD TRIALS. SOME PEOPLE JUST WANT TO APPEAR IMPORTANT
