stevethefish 80
I got a call from one of the keepers asking if we could just do a bit of clearing up some rabbits before the end of the season. We knew that the numbers wouldnt be that great as we did this area late last season but all the same we needed to do it for him. It started out pretty slow, it seems that most of the rabbits are straying from the adjoining estate that I dont have permission on. We plodded on getting the odd one or two but found that we were digging a few stinkers (rabbits that had been shot and crawled back into the sets and died) a bit time consuming to say the least. It was steady but we did manage to miss a few bolt holes that were covered in grass and watch as the little tw*ts as they legged it. We cant complain as we have had some decent days recently and managed to boost the numbers big style, also we need to keep the keepers sweet. As we got to a small spinney that was overgrown to the max we were thinking of calling it a day, the last rabbit sealed the desicion when it pegged it from a snagged net, my bad setting by the way. An early finish resulted in a steady 25 but we are now getting ready for some ratting with the smokers and terriers and a bit of foxing, we had 4 the other day rather large ones at that They were a request from a friend who has had problems on his shoot land so we took a soft terrier and bolted them to the gun, plenty more about on there for another day. 1 Quote Link to post
