the 97kt comes with the hog's back thunbhole stock as standard  and yes the .177 spring is abit stronger as it has to push the lighter pellet quicker :victory: here you go £400 brahttp://www.sunderlandscubacentre.com/hw97kt-air-rifle.html?___store=defaultnd new :boogie:

Thanks for that link. Seems a good price but Its not really the type of thumbhole stock I like, It looks too much like the HW100 thumbhole and I really dont like that. First pic on link is the sort of thing I would be looking for http://f4bscale.worldonline.co.uk/compared.htm

I have a bit better idea now, Im just going to have to get a few in the shoulder and see how they feel.

Thanks fellas :victory:

Hi there.

This link you put here shows an HW77 with a CS800 thumbhole stock from Custom Stock exactly as I was trying to describe before. The HW77 is just an amazingly accurate rifle whichever calibre you desire. The only regret I have with mine is... I didn't buy one long ago.

Google Custom Stock for their website.

Best of luck with your quest.

Just had a mooch about their website and the CS700 is exactly what Im after! Little less chunky compared to the CS800. Starting to get a good idea now, HW77K in .177 with that CS700 stock.

Much appreciated

Just had a look at the Gunstar ad.

It's a .22 HW77 and the stock is the Custom Stock's thumbhole I mentioned. Pricewise, on brand new we are looking at about £400 for the rifle and £300 for the stock, plus, say £200 for the scope so, £900 plus a bit of change. Saving about £400 here off brand spanking. We'll call the rifleslip a freebie. So, not too bad a price really.

Simon

Hells teeth! £900 is a bit steep! HOWEVER I could settle for a standard stock on the 77 untill I can afford a nice custom one.

Thanks for the advice on the tele sights lads. Looks like Hawke are out the window.

As it happens I have been looking at the 97 and I like the TH stocks alot, especially the very contoured custom ones. But if im getting a Weihrauch with a custom stock its just gotta be a 77.

Simon, is there any reason you would choose a .22 over .177 based on accuracy? I know that the .22 pellet is as accurate as the .177 but beeing abit 'green' when it comes to decent springers I dont know if the .177 has a more powerfull spring causing slightly more felt recoil? Its a bit irrelavent really as Im only interested in .177 having made the conversion several years ago but still interested in your opinion....

Thanks lads, gotta say, you boys are a damn sight more civil than the dog lads! lol

Sorry I missed this earlier Born Hunter.

The HW77 in .22 is very smooth with very little felt recoil. The Rekord trigger is the best unit in the air rifle business for my money. One simple screw turn and you have the perfect let-off. It really is a beautiful rifle to shoot. I chose the .22 version as I understand the pellet trajectory of .22 very accurately and it is the perfect hunting calibre in a rifle that is truly astonishing. Mine will put any number of .22 pellets clean through the hole of the first and you cannot get better accuracy than that.

You will find the standard Weihrauch stock is very pleasing in handling and for me, it brings the whole rifle together at my shoulder delightfully. That makes a .22 HW77 a very effective hunting rifle in my hands.

I cannot draw on a direct comparison on a .177 version but, based entirely on my experience of the .22 version, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one in .177.

I'm seriously thinking of buying a .177 HW77 and going for national and international spring rifle competition shooting.

My only conclusion is the Weihrauch HW77, regardless of chosen calibre, is the finest spring air rifle you can buy off the peg. There simply isn't a rifle to better it.

Well,

I think youve just made my decision! lol :notworthy:;)

Im looking to buy in april but gonna try to get my hands on a few of the mentioned rifles. I still havnt ruled out the TX200 or the HW97 but my hearts set on the HW77 and you just dont hear anything bad about it..... ever!

Seriously cant wait to get a good old honest air rifle back in my hands again and start knocking over the bunnys. Shotguns just dont compare! Gonna be a real pleasure shooting a springer to, old school.

:good:

Personally i would choose the HW77, theres just something about them. I have very recently acquired a HW77K in .22 and in all honesty couldn't be happier, I've not given it a good testing yet but hopefully will do this weekend. I think at the end of the day it comes down to which rifle you prefer, i cannot comment on the TX but I'm sure there is nothing between the two. Maybe try them both if possible before buying, as what is good for one person isn't necessarily good for another, and the most important thing is that the gun fits you and you feel comfortable when shooting it.

All The Best, Paul.

I've seen for myself the way Simon can shoot his 77. I've always considered myself as being quite handy with a springer and I've used them for the best part of 30 years but I've never seen anyone shoot one as well as he does, truly a pleasure to see

Genuine one hole groups from a traditional prone position, no fancy rests or supports, just pure skill.

Cheers

Hello mate,

I have got a hw77 and I have owned it for about two years and to be honet I think it is a great gun. I have to agree with what you said about a heavier gun being easy to use in certain situations aswell, I offen go hunting with my friend who has a hw95k and you notice the recoil a lot more with this being lighter. I hope this helps in some way.
