cooklanddeerhounds 45
some years ago i put a terrier into a field drain and went to the main junction box were a fox bolted my lurcher caught and killed it. then another jumped out and was disposed of. then another and another and another and another. thinking this was the last kill and a fantastic catch, one of the lads told me that one got away.it had ran a different way from the other five.i sent this story to the countrymans weekly and they wrote ''six foxes bolt from a old train'' instead of drain..... all the foxes were mature males. has anyone else encountered so many foxes lying up together? moonlighter 1,163
That's a lot of foxes!! The most I've had out of one place was 3. That's not a lot but the earth was tiny, only had 3 holes and covered an area about 3 meter square. That was 2 dogs and a vixen. That was right out in the middle of the fen. Quote Link to post
iceman001979 1,316
The most l have ever bolted was 4 out off a rock pile 2 dogs 2 vixens and missed everyone off them .Only had the one lucher with us and every time lucher was on one side the fox came out the other so next time we brought the two luchers and got one each at either side. skycat 6,173
Had four from a drain by the side of a country road once: all fat as butter, and one was a really old vixen with hardly any teeth. They didn't have a clue where to go when bolted: obviously dumped. If these townie do gooders knew anything about wild animals they would never dump them in an unfamiliar area. 3 Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
Four, years ago, from an old railway drain. Put one in from the bramble. A big Lakie followed it in and he drew it within seconds, soon as the lurcher grabbed it he had dissapeared in for a second, drew that too. He was keen to get back in again and we followed him from the top, we could see where the drain had previously collapsed and that was the stop end, then bang, right into another. By the time we cleared the shale and opened it up he'd killed it but was pretty done in, he was lifted and we pulled the fox out, letting the lurcher have a rag, only to see a fourth creep out and shoot across the line into heavy bramble...!
