smashed toe nail/claw

Recommended Posts

my dog came back from a run last night limping, he has smashed his back right claw pretty bad, most seems missing just a bit on one side left. I have bathed and cleaned it. should the remaining nail be removed?

if so will it grow back and will this affect him for next season?

any help appreciated

If he's not in pain just keep it clean. Is he licking it or trying to chew it? A bit of licking is good but be careful of too much.

I have a dog with a claw missing and I still don't know how he did it. We came back from a run and it was missing. it was sore if I touched it but he didn't lick it or anything. Was like he didn't even care. Not grown back at all but doesn't bother him.
