judge2010 196
found this doing some research on wolves: "Single wolves have occasionally been observed to kill large prey such as moose, bison and muskoxen unaided" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gray_wolf If a single wolf can take down a bison single handedly maybe a GOOD dog would have a chance of taking a red stag. I dont think a lurcher but maybe a running mastiff type would be the best bet. its the boy who crys wolf :tongue2: last time i attept a joke on THL. Quote Link to post

artic 595
Yous are all laughable. Even the most mentally challenged dogman would realize that a fit and healthy red stag in its prime is NEVER going to be had with one dog. I work alongside reds every day when I'm on the hill and I can assure you all you "theorists" who have never seen one if its not in a book would change your mind. Now children let's wake up and dive ourselves a shake. The young and gullible amongst us who are easily led on will believe the shit written on this thread. Talk of hero dogs and even more worshiped dogmen. Lol I bed 99% of you wouldn't ken what to do if you had one thrashing about before you. You would run a fecking mile! Well that's my take on the subject from an unbiased opinion from someone who couldn't give two fucks what the dossers on this site think of me. The bullshit stops when the tailgate drops! FTB You do talk sense now and then! Great post and so true. Hedz, spot on mate. Too many dreamers on this thread, snap out of it. Quote Link to post
Richie10 345
Have shot lowland ones myself, once you get upto one will you know the size. I have shot mainly prickets and you have lift them with tractors. The right hold, the right deer, right location and a very good dog could trip a stag but I would say it would need the right factors and an element of luck. Once these guys start powering off it would take alot to stop them. I have only shot them, never run them with dogs. Quote Link to post
SPOTTY BACKED BIG RACK 90
My opinion for what its worth on here Out of the 6 species a dog is capable of taking 5 of them single on a regular basis FACT. A mature red stag in its prime taken by a dog single is not impossible with the aid of accidents, injury, sickness, fences, ditchs etc etc but WILL NOT be a regular occurance IMO. Two dogs at the top of there game are capable of and WILL take red stags. Edited March 9, 2011 by SPOTTY BACKED BIG RACK 1 Quote Link to post
