Simoman 110
Darcy, im impressed you managed to get that close to the stag without an erection they sure are a beast, some would suggest perhaps too much for a beddy/whippet Quote Link to post

Butler 396
Chalky i couldn't agree more if you want to make a profit out of the deer job stay away from the big fella's. I must say though that i have been known from time to time to get Buck/Stag fever but we all need a challenge from time to time Quote Link to post
fox digger 1,086
you'd get a few squid for one of these of the game dealer all the same!! Quote Link to post
Pops 19
over here we take our elk (wapiti) & big deer out by cutting it up and packing out the pieces on a packboard or in a good large ruck. when you're young you take about 100# at a time. as you get older the loads get smaller. don't see why it wouldn't work for a red. Part of its the illegality and the need or a quick job most the time i would think. Quote Link to post
Guest RAB.MCKAY
not a chance single handed unless stag commited suicide. i have seen one up close and dead and 2 be honest ther one hell of an animal . lions have problems bringing down wilderbest and zebra single handed i would say a dog would have no hope with some thing as big and strong. seen my bitch cource a sika stag one night she was bitting at its heals with no effect , it had a full rack was the width of a hource and i was praying she didnt pull it down it jumpt 5 ft through a thick 8 ft headge as if it wasnt ther and disapeared in to the night . baw 4,360
I have never seen a red stag run before the ban so i can't comment on FACTUAL evidence, although for SINGLE DOG, which is what the thread was entitled, to take a red stag on a REGULAR basis without any assistance would be the dog of legend surely For me before the ban two main points would be raised before slipping, first of all do I want to increase the chances of death or serious injury slipping on a 25 stone coat rack and see my hard work ended with a kick or gore, and second IF my dogs had managed to slow such a beast, am i going to release or eat it, and if im going to eat it how the hell do i get it home. Still there are lads on this thread with REAL experience, all pre ban of course and quite a few "theorisers" like myself, still with legislation the way it is its not something im likely to see Exactly mate. No one has a dog capable of pulling down a red stag single handed. Not a full grown, wild red stag. Quote Link to post
