Hob or Jill

Recommended Posts

i've got two small jill's.. but i'll be getting a hob for next season i don't mind doing a bit of digging it's part an parcel of ferreting. we'd all like easy day's but unfortunately that's not alway's the case.

sometimes it just depends on the ferret, and you will only really know once you've taken them out a few times. My hob works a lot better than my jill, he hardly ever kills, always comes back when it is clear of rabbits. But then he is bigger so cant fit down some than my tiny jill can. But for some it is the other way round.

Ive a big cinamon hob here i bred last year out of a great jill i was given and he's every bit as good as the small jills ive been out with this season, always goes deep not just running around the top, never been a fan of hobs but i have 2 decent ones now that have changed my opinion, but he does make a mess of nets at times.

100% jills for me mate race around the tunnels and back out if nothing is at home. my mate brings his hobs and 99% of the time your waiting about for them nothing bolted and no sign of a kill. i like the speed of the jills and move on to the next. not saying hobs are no good just for me a jill is prefered mate.
