weldersunited 0
Hello, new post from new member here and apologies if this has been covered before. I currently have a shotgun cert that expires at the end of April this year and applied for my FAC (0.22 rimfire and 0.17HMR) at the beginning of Jan this year. The licensing dept have been really helpful as I wanted to add the 17HMR calibre and a couple of other items onto my application and they actually contacted me several times to ask if I wanted to go co- term and to keep me updated as to application progress through the office. I am now waitng for a visit from the FEO and unfortunately this is where the trail seems to have gone cold- staff in the office tell me that they can't say when I'll be contacted ref a visit and will just have to wait for the phone call. My questions are: 1: Am I being impatient waiting for the FEO to contact me- it's just over a month since the licensing dept told me they had all info, initial nominated land was complete and an FEO would be in touch etc 2: What is the normal practice for dating co term certs- is it likely that the intention will be to run both from the expiry date of the old SGC? This would mean end of April issue for both certs? 3: The land nominated on my application is approx 100 acres but I have since acquired premission for an additional 200 adjacent to this, as well as a block of about 60 acres at the other end of the county. I also consider myself to be very fortunate in that I can add to these permissions with relative ease- does anyone have any experience of open certificates being granted (.22 rimfire and 0.17HMR) on first application by Avon and Somerset (I am experienced with the 0.22 rimfire- grew up on a sporting estate, worked with keeper etc). My local constabulary is Avon and Somerset. Thanks in advance for any replies! Quote Link to post

Assuming that the licensing dept will be able to let me have his number? Rgds Andy Quote Link to post
halamrose 24
If you ask for it, seems like a reasonable thing to ask for. I'm in Cambridge and the numbers are on the web site along with the postcodes each person looks after, yours don't seem to be quite so helpful. H Quote Link to post

Hi- I'm just outside Axbridge, but permissions are in North Somerset Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
Doesn't matter where the permissions are, the FEO that will deal with the application will be the one that covers the home address where you will store the firearms. The licencing department should be able to provide you with the contact details of your FEO. If not, get in touch with BASC they may be able to provide you with the details! Quote Link to post
weldersunited 0
Thanks for the replies guys. Spookily I've just had the FEO on the phone- interview is this thursday so looks like i'll have some definitive answers to my questions sooner than I anticipated! Quote Link to post
weldersunited 0
All good, the FEO came round today and interviewed me- very helpful and friendly guy. Ammo quantity was a bit light at buy 300 of each cal and hold 400 but did say that if it's proven to not be enough it should be no probs to up the quantity. Certs should arrive in the next couple of weeks SGC backdated to run with the FAC. Even asked me if I had any intention of moving on to larger calibre- seemed surprised that I didn't want to go for it straight away. Intersetingly I asked about fox condition on the cert and the reply was that fox was vermin and would therefore be covered but I should be realistic about the ranges over which I shoot them. Now then, why do days seem longer when you're waiting for something to come through the post!!! Quote Link to post
