All I do is ferret and I like a dog to have a bit of strength to it - I feel they ride the bumps and bangs a but better. I am not fortunate enough to have much pretty ferreting lol anyway not wanting to hijack the thread. My point was get a dog that suits you; afterall you are going to be working closely with it for a long time and ferreting dogs need time (experience) before they are really any good. supersam 64 Posted March 10, 2011 Report Share Posted March 10, 2011 (edited) i have sin the evidence i was wrong that is a very nice dog very well built not to stocky but in fine fettle what x is he he is a very strong dog and is grey/whippet/saluki. very quick(not as quick as my whippet outa the blocks but faster once in his stride) and now as he has got more experience as he was only 9 month old in the vid he is a very intelligent ferreting dog. also kills fox and does 20+ on the lamp be it i only lamp at the most for 2 hours. ps i need a quick dog to catch bolting rabbits as i dont use any nets!!!!! all rabbits are bolted to the dogs and this dog has caught ALOT of rabbits!! There a litter near me of saluki/whip/grey not sure how they are bred yet but if they going to be anything like yours I'd be happy to have one Is it usual of a dog of this breeding to take fox or is it just in him ?
