whip x grey 276
What ever is the point of larging it up about having a dog running fast in a strait line ? ? iv never known a rabbit, hare, fox or deer that runns in a strait line! see if your pretend greyhound can stay tight when the real life quarrie does turn. Any more speed than is needed to get on terms is a waste. if you want a fast dog take up greyhound racing ! if you want a pretty dog and a rosset start showing poodles! "WHAT IS SPEED TO A RUNNING DOG???? EVERYTHING,AS LONG AS THE QUARRY RUNS IN A STRAIGHT LINE! so if i slip my dog in a stright race or let it have a run in the park,,,,it only will run in a stright line ???????,,,,,now that would be some feet,,,,i,e slip dog,,in striaght race,,,,and it doesnt turn in fact it WALKBACKWARDS in a straight line to lead THAT WOULD BE ANOTHER FEET ,,,now that would be somthing too see i agree with optimus on 1st part,,,,,,,tooo a running dog speed IS everything hence the term running dog some off the fastest dogs cant turn,,,,some can/ some learn to use there gear,s some never ive seen slower dog turn tighter ,,,than the faster dog,,,,but the faster dog,,,went up the gears to get on parr and killed the quarry not the slower,,,,,food for thought,,,dont mistake speed for stupidity - but in most cases - for determation ,,,as dogs are dogs ,,,there very verstile ,,wotever the breeding,,,( within the rule ) and ( the experance & opputunittie the owner can give them ) fast whippets and whippet greyhounds = sh*t turners , total burners and smashed feet, just the job for a working mans lurcher that . dude,,,,iam not in anyway saying ,,,when it comes to the very fastest, barr the best greyhounds,,,,they dont come with there injury problem,s hence with more speed tends to mean more time at vets,,,,for most,,,except for the lucky ones but dont say ,, whippets or whip/greys are shit turners,,,,ive seen some that would turn on a six pence,,,,,the ones brought up as rabbit dogs,,,there slim build gives them that abbillite ,,,,,but the ones that are used for track, and only know that way off life,,,granted they cant turn as they dont know any diffrence,,,hence i put some can some cant turn, some can , some learn to use there gears at the right momment,,,some never get the handle on it i understand were ur coming from,,,,,i,e take up greyhound racing,,,,but some dont want too thats there choice,,,,i,e if u want a bonny dog get a poddle, well again thats there choice,,,,any more speed is a waste to get on terms, well that depends on the ground they run and quarry somtimes u do need speed to get on terms with quarry , somtimes u dont,,, but a dog that isnt able to turn ,,,well that,s is an old wives tale ,,as all canines can some better some not as good but can turn all the same:thumbs: speed is important as all lurcher men know but stamina is to but usually the faster and closer you get to speeds of the grey the more stamina you lose, it all fine and dandy having a jet engine propelled mutt but in the field hunting thats useless if they can only sustain it for a few runs, stamina and speed should be on the same level of value to a working lurcher, thats why i think this drag coursing has no bearing or is a valid reperasentive of what its really like in the field hunting, i understand few go just for the crack but for the people who think it shows ability in the field is a joke, this is not aimed at you whip x grey just my honest opinion. i agree with u ,,,u can have too much off one thing ,,,,its a happy meduim in the feild,,,,,hence why the slower whipxgrey,s at track got snapped up in past,,,they tended to be the stayer,s not the sprinters,,,and also lurchers had more stamia than them its a double sided sword,,,,too much speed ,,,,not enough stamia,,,,,too much stamia /maybe not enough speed my brother had a great dog,,,( sprinter sugar rush , fast ?? AMAZING ), he also had the litter mate ( sophies gift ) fast ???lol NO !,,,stamia YES,,we nicknamed her the cross country runner,,she would run forever,,,and not burn out,,,,,did we breed her yes,,,,,and stamia in pups were never a problem in there hunting homes,,,,but yet her litter sister( sugar rush ) was the fastest 32lber EVER to grace the scottish track but both can turn Quote Link to post
