a good hare

Recommended Posts

If it's as dull as you say Baw, why do you always come on the Saluki Coursing threads?

Keep to the whippets and greyhounds.

I dunno richieaged10, I suppose its cos I like hearing about chasing hares. I appreciate they dogs you see in the videos, they really do have my admiration for what they do. I really think they are special but be honest with yourself, doesn't your heart want a little more action, hmmmm?

That made me laugh, the aged 10 quip, it actually did!

Anyway, I enjoy the course it's just different to the smaller fields and the quick runs. Also seeing the fens and running some parts it's a different game. It's good to see them so called 'plod' and then hit another gear and make a strike.

Seen the dogs on the hill with white hares, good vid but the course is nothing. Very few lamping vids are of good quality apart from the Wreakin crew the rest are watching lights on the ground or quarry so out of focused it could be anything.

I'm glad I made you laugh mate, good to see someone with a sense of humour for a change. Look mate, don't tell anyone else but I like watching it all too, just don't like seeing folks heads getting bigger. I hate when folk dis what other folk are into cos they think what they do is superior to other forms of hunting. If someone likes using a bull cross to catch foxes, why should he feel inferior to someone who runs salukis on hares? If I run deerhound crosses on hares in Scotland, why does that make me inferior to someone who runs salukis on hares on the fens? This is my only grip with the saluki boys, they actually think they are better than everyone which grinds my bones.

Watching some clips on u tube today and this run stood out , a real good hare , and a real good run !

you really are a clueless twat . jut started lookig at these sites and im bored with novice ideots with big mouths already

fantastic run,, it doesent get any better than that!

Different dogs for different things really.

I don't think people are saying its inferior just that the stamina and the fitness to run the bigger fields is found in the saluki, which is naturally bred into them.

Deerhound crosses can run most things and do things that bite back, alot of salukis don't like that.

Bull crosses can do things that bite back but haven't the stamina to do daytime hares.

All were good in their way before the ban.

I agree totally with your comment mate, I do think it would take a seriously good dog to catch that hare, probably only a few good dogs would. It was your comments about the scottish flag I was getting at, the fact your a sassanach makes it worse lol. As for not running on the fens so I can't comment, I can comment on what I see surely?

I don't think you can mate !!! what you "see" doe'snt give you the "full picture" for instance the ground condition's you heard marcus say it was "heavy" going when the ground's like that on the fen then even to walk a couple of hundred yards hurt's your legs fit or not !! then there's the winds freezing cold easterly wind's blowing straight across the "flat land's" chilling you and your dog to the bone !!! the "camera" does'nt give you the full picture mate !!!! only them that have been and done it really know !!!! my comment on the scot's flag was because i know 90% of scot's lad's would'nt have coursed on the fen's simply because of the distance involved !!!

Heavy going and a cold breeze :blink::blink: Are you sure you were from Scotland? If this is the worst the fens has to offer....ff's  Look, the fens is a large man made expanse of land suited to the dog. I agree it takes a dog with stamina or there wouldn't be so many using them. But you cannot convince me it isn't the most boring form of hare catching ever. See if you guys weren't interested in numbers and were more into it for the sport, it would be far better. Imagine a season where you only coursed speed bomb dogs, yes you wouldn't get the numbers but by f**k it would be made up ten fold by the enjoyment.

What are you on about? its not how fast the dog kills them that makes it enjoyable, my dogs killed em quick, killed 3s and 4s, but the runs that stand alone in your memories are the gruellers where the dog gives everything, thats when you jump in the air with your arms up, shouting "yesssss" but it takes a PROPER coursing man to know a good run when he sees one. Lets just leave it there, I have my own views on lucky and not being a good producer of quality stuff directly, but I can appreciate a top dog when i see one, him and tina are two of the best dogs i ever seen. Mates had pups direct outta him and were shite, way it goes, also its the man behind the dog too.

Fens are not man made, was made thousands of years ago when sea levels dropped, man dug ditches thats it. boring hare course is when its over in 30 seconds like those ones on the heather up your way when their legs get stuck in the heather and cant run properly mate, on the fen, your dog catches or jacks, sorts men from the boys, Why not try? I run fens and its 4 hour drive for me, must be same for you in scotland, why do you think i drive 500 mile round trip to fen when i got hares behind my house? to test the dogs on best hares in the country.

Speed bombs are for lamping, or running fields like nr me mate, thats boring, a whippet will catch like that, 'Coursing' means coursing , not run and kill as quick as you can.:wallbash:

Thats the sport we all love.

Couldn't disagree with you more. It's not the length of a chase which makes it enjoyable, it's what happens DURING the chase. You seem to have a fixation for long chases which is fair enough. Me, I prefer the action. Tell the truth, if all lurcher types could run for 4 minutes plus, but the chase was full of bends, flecks, tumbles f*****g ACTION, would you still say that chase you so lovingly think is the be all end all was still the best? I reckon not. It's as boring as ditch water and you know it. As for the fens not being man made, eh? You travel as many miles as you want to, doesn't make a blind bit of difference. I have heard of guys travelling 100+ miles for rabbits and yes, I think they are off their heads too.

you fool of shit baw.even more than optipiss.
