skycat 6,173
It's weird, when I'm watching a run like that, even on video, I'm practically holding my breath! Watching the dog reading the hare, waiting for the moment. Beautiful! Quote Link to post

baldockbanks courser 598
in a word ridiculous why? a hare only has to run once to survive a dogs got to do it maybe 3/4/5 times or more to please the owner. ever had anything as good as that dog yourself? have so mate and probably not the only unknown guy to have had a dog as good as that if not better You silly, silly man . your an "unknown guy" because youv not owned a dog worthy of licking luckys hole. do you think parish was a celebratie before he owned lucky ? He had a great dog that made him a force in coursing and then breed a few more to boot so it werent a fluke. only if youv run such hares on such land can you understand what that dog did there. that hare would have made all but the best of coursing dogs wilt there. The 1,2,3 dog also herd him called the 21 grand dog because marcus ment to have turned that down for him once but the only thing lucky about him was hes name. one of the greats. Quote Link to post

border lad 1,047
well take nothing away from the dog, or the Hare, any dog that is capable of taking 3 out of 3 is a very good annimal, and of course the land he was running on big open land, a dogs paradise, but lads what you are missing, when you are running, on average 15 to 20 acre fields, is again another skill, the dog has to be up, to them, and work the Hare, they do not have time or space, waiting for the Hare to make a mistake, the dog has to force that, when you see a realy good dog behind a Hare, he gets up there, turns the hare, back in again, but this time he gets right down to it, working the Hare all the time, you see the dog working from his shoulders, the Hare can not turn bang its over, TAKE NOTHING AWAY FROM lUCKY,HE DONE HIS JOB AND DONE IT WELL, and when you have a good dog, he can do it on Fen, or field,or even a cabbage patch, next to Heathrow airport, when we were doing the M4 at Slough, near Colnebrooke, long before computers were invented, in 1961, we had freedom to course, A dog I had then was just a collie greyhound with Cotton kings, Blood running through his veins, bred by accident, in those days I thought my dog was a good Handy dog, nothing more, Quote Link to post
