wcs tube trap / Kanias

Recommended Posts

If the last couple of years are anything to go by the phone will start ringing very soon with squirrel jobs, we do a lot normally with the golf courses etc but the last few years we have been doing ever increasing amounts of domestic/commercial jobs. was thinking about getting a dozen of the 2 types mentioned above, however the prices are excessive to say the least, and as yet have found no one willing to give a sensible discount for multiple purchase. So, has anyone found any supplier who is a little flexible on their pricing.

I do an awful lot of squirrel trapping in domestic and commercial situations in the early part of the season and to be perfectly honest in my opinion a good quality cage trap(s) is all you really need. I have Kanias and wcs tube traps that i use in forestry or woodland situations and these work fine.........but so does a Mk6 fenn in a tunnel or a bodygrip in a cubby.

I usually put a cage in the roof (as near the entry point as possible) on a board and baited with peanuts........and another cage in the garden somewhere along the access route to the roof.......Just out from the bottom of a wall or fence if they use it to run along is as good a place as any. Most clients will check the cages daily.........and they will certainly hear the one in the roof if it has caught........and give me a call to come and collect the squirrel.

If you want to use Kanias and WCS tube traps as a preference then I'm sure they will work just as well i was just suggesting a cheaper alternative as cost is a major issue to everyone nowadays. The one advantage that the cages have in my opinion is this. If the squirrel has some quite well grown young in the roof (which is often the case later in the year) they will readily enter the cage in the roof.........following the scent of the female, whereas they may be reluctant or not big enough to trigger a spring trap

Just some thoughts and suggestions as traps are so bloody expensive nowadays.........if you find a cheap supplier of the genuine article please let me know.

As a distributer for Magnum I can tell you that there is no way to give a discount on numbers of traps. Distributers are asked that everyone sell the traps no lower than a given price. Of course some people sell them for more but no one can sell them for less. This is to stop the really big suppliers undercutting everyone else with their buying power.

If you contact Magnum directly they may be able to do a deal for you, but us smaller guys are limited in the price we can charge.

Dont quote me on this, but i think the tube trap for the UK market isnt the same as the one used in the US. Probably a spring change or something.

Import duties + shipping costs + some profit for bothering etc all adds up!

If these traps are so unaffordable, why not ask "logun" to make you some for £2.99 each inc P+P

Yes I know what your saying Moley, I had a bunch of high seats sent over from cabellas a few years back, they turned up 48 hrs after ordering, best quality I have seen anywhere and a shade under £95 each delivered from the states, and as if that was not enough I had an apology letter from cabellas for slow delivery due to adverse weather in america and would I be happy with a 5% discount off my next order.

Chalky you cheeky chappy, I am second richest man in the west country, the warrener is first.:whistling:

Rolfe we have been doing all that since year dot, basically how shall i put this, the pest gods have been good to us again this year and april is only 4 weeks away, so i need to spend some money quick so that her majestys highway robbery unit dont crucify me again this year, But I dont like being fleeced either so I always look for the best price.

Tighter than a fishes arse swimming backwards.

Having just read through my earlier posting and knowing how easy it is to take things the wrong way on forums, my response to rolfe could be considered "curt" in my defense it was worded badly as I had only just had my first cup of tea, no offence was meant or intended.

PEACE MAN, MT. :friends:

something that makes me smile though is that some dont like the fact that i can make the same type producy for peanuts.

ive sent a few out free to some as i have with all my traps, and some to be sent out soon.maybe its a case that some can only make money out of traps and aint the hands or the common sence to make they own.look at the tube trap.shit when you think of it.but why spend £50 when you can do it for next to nowt.another thing that makes me piss myselfe is that some of the so calledtop trap men on here rely on the yanks to send they ideas over.top trap men and the couldent even design or make a basic mouse trap lol makes you piss yoursefe.

the uk tube trap is a bit different from the us version , but not 3x the price different, if someone is buying trade then they get a fair bit of discount from the rrp , so add up the trade unit price+ shipping+import duties +summit for profit, i cannot imagine it still should be 3x the price,
