miles 227
"Now for the bit that perhaps hasn't occurred to you before, whilst a dog is sailing through the air in long ground covering strides; can he accelerate (i.e. increase speed) or change direction? My contention is that he can only increase speed by exerting pressure to the ground and the same applies to changing direction, so he can do neither in mid flight. So logically the more often the foot touches the ground - the more agile and early paced the dog." God that dog dealer talkes some SHITE,has he never seen a good dog "boxing" its hare off cover? Ive seen and owned saluki longdogs that coursed so tight you could,nt see were the dogs nose ended and the hares tial began! And they could catch rabbits in small fields as well Tumblers my arse Edited January 30, 2007 by miles Quote Link to post

Guest Shameless
Mick Douglas used to live at Runham and often used Tich Andersons(KingsLynn) dogs over his bitches Tich s dog came from lurcher to lurcher breeding and his dog and his brothers dog were the only straw coloured dogs in the litter and nobody knew how they were bred, that said the dog was one of the best dogs I have ever seen and took absolutely everything in abundance and anyone of us on this site would have wanted it, Mick only bred dogs that were tested and proven beyond doubt in the field and always produced more than his fair share of quality dogs, if I remember right Aubry Friar came and took many photos of tich s dog as well. as for Mick he rescued me and my dog from the Peacock in Swaffam over 20yrs ago when I was a teenager when set about by some men who were trying to get my dog of me and hes a big man to be messing with even if he was nearly always barefooted, shame I lost touch with him many years ago. Guest little lurcher
jeff burrell was the first man , who truly introduced mick douglas to the lurcher game but then when mick moved to norfolk very close to where we still live it was in fact my father whom then assisted him with the right dogs for the job, and was in fact heavily influenced by my dads own breeding , MR Mike Docwra , also know for some of the big money dogs bred for the fens, we are in fact also lining my bitch to the very last dog of his old line which was the closest to the true smithfield, i wish my dad was here as he would tell you all exact bloodlines of which bitches went to which dog and what they produced , also you will find a heavy influence of mike Kidds breeding in these lines too , he was from norwich way, mick also went over to ireland with my family for dog things too , te man was barefoot as always and was a very good marsh man too , im also sorry contact was not kept smithfield/norfolk type ,one of the best there is Quote Link to post
