Stillers 3
I've just put £125 quid deposit down on a second hand BSA Ultra with BSA 6x40 scope (£250 all in). Being a newbie shooter and pardon the pun, 'trigger happy', I loved the look and feel of the rifle and went for it! In your opinion, and be honest, what do you think, good or bad choice, too much money?... 2 Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
LOL Davy , Hi Stillers, Yes you have made the right decision there pal . I’ve owned 2 of them myself and they are really good rifles and very accurate . That price is good too if the rifle is a good worker and not marked up badly. When you get it only fill it to around 190 bar though and refill it after 30 shots in .177 and 40 in .22 for best consistency and accuracy. Si Edited March 3, 2011 by zini 1 Quote Link to post
Stillers 3
Haha! Thanks Davy and Si. I just need to find a charging cylinder for a decent price now and not rely on using a friends pump all the time... Quote Link to post

secretagentmole 1,701
Buy a pump, more transportable than a bottle and best of all, cheap air once you buy it. If I go PCP I am getting a pump as I am a tightwad! More than that though it means I do not have to look like a lost scuba diver going shooting! Just looks like I lost a mountatin bike instead! Edited due to typing error, than than, good grief! Edited March 4, 2011 by secretagentmole Quote Link to post
Stillers 3
Davy, again thank you! I'll think long and hard over the pump vs cylinder debate, I've heard about moisture issues with pumps though and want to prolong the life of my gun as much as possible. Keeping costs down may be the deciding factor at the moment though... Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
A good pump should remove moisture from the air! I say should! But there again a bad bottle fill will be as bad... Quote Link to post
Stillers 3
Thanks Mole, all info is really helpful. Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
I have also a link to a very useful how to use a pump video, it is right at the bottom of the page, sometimes bad pump experiences are down to the person doing the pumping, so here it is! How to use a pump! Quote Link to post
craig33 10
get a bottle mate fill your gun in 5 seconds or buy a pump and pump for 25 mins your better off taking advise from people in the know its not as easy to fill a rifle with a pump as you may think. 3 ltr 300 bar would be perfect for that rifle you will get plenty of fills atb craig Quote Link to post

secretagentmole 1,701
Anybody bother looking at the video??? Quite a lot of pump problems are down to people not using the pump correctly, also guns like the R10 and Raider have about 200cc bottles, not wonking great mini scuba tanks! Quote Link to post
rossy08 33
If you cant use a pump, you shouldent even consider picking a gun up. it not rocket sicence Quote Link to post
