BSA Ultra

Recommended Posts

I've just put £125 quid deposit down on a second hand BSA Ultra with BSA 6x40 scope (£250 all in). Being a newbie shooter and pardon the pun, 'trigger happy', I loved the look and feel of the rifle and went for it!

In your opinion, and be honest, what do you think, good or bad choice, too much money?...

LOL Davy  ,

Hi Stillers,

Yes you have made the right decision there pal  .

I’ve owned 2 of them myself and they are really good rifles and very accurate  .

That price is good too if the rifle is a good worker and not marked up badly.

When you get it only fill it to around 190 bar though and refill it after 30 shots in .177 and 40 in .22 for best consistency and accuracy.

Buy a pump, more transportable than a bottle and best of all, cheap air once you buy it. If I go PCP I am getting a pump as I am a tightwad! More than that though it means I do not have to look like a lost scuba diver going shooting! Just looks like I lost a mountatin bike instead!

Edited due to typing error, than than, good grief!

Davy, again thank you!

I'll think long and hard over the pump vs cylinder debate, I've heard about moisture issues with pumps though and want to prolong the life of my gun as much as possible.

Keeping costs down may be the deciding factor at the moment though...

get a bottle mate fill your gun in 5 seconds or buy a pump and pump for 25 mins your better off taking advise from people in the know

its not as easy to fill a rifle with a pump as you may think.

3 ltr 300 bar would be perfect for that rifle you will get plenty of fills

atb craig

25 minutes???? you must be unfit my friend :tongue2: are you having naps inbetween pumps?? haha Ive filled the S10 buddy bottle to 220barr in less than 5 minutes on average, but then again i am an athlete :whistling: haha Fair play though it is hard going but it works the muscles and doesnt make you lazy, also you tend to only take certain shots, because you dont want to pump back up sooner than you have to due to firing wasted or misplaced shots, which IMHO makes for cleaner, more accurate shooting
