do any of you use ferret litter for your ferrets,i tryed some early on and they seem more interested rollin in it,one of the hobs prefered to do a crap on the carpet,also when they strech out and crawl foward are they spraying?they have been in the room for about 1 hour and my burd is raging because of the smell

yes am new,ive not long got the ferrets so they need to be handled? i need to get used to them,they need to get used to me,locking them up in a hutch 24/7 wouldnt really be fair

Aye mate, crack on, i used to bring my ferrets into the kitchen a fair bit and do now with kits, mine live in a court so they have plenty of room, but its good socializing. If the weather is ok i'd rather have them run around the veg patch tho. Don't do it with the adults any more because it makes a mess and accidents can happen, i once found one of my jills walking about chewing on a fruit gun Also its a bit hectic having a fast working ferret scuttling about climbing all over the place. But its better that than no handle them

Hell no don't lock them up 24/7 mate they do need to b handled I do admit my mrs would kill me if I had them in the house you say hutches how many ferrets u got ?? Carnt really help on ur topic tho lol

we have our ferrets in the house sometimes,,they scratch at the brand new carpets in the living room,,mrs does her nut,,,,,,as for all you lot saying the mrs would kill ya,,,,lol,,,,man up!!!!

i always try to give them 1/2 hour in the kitchen [wooden floor]. gives them some exercise always handle them everyday got 2 approx 7 month old jills. 1 18 month old hob.plenty of handling -result steady calm ferrets.

Alot of people who keep ferrets outside bring them in the house for a few hours a day,

its no life stuck in a hutch day in day out. They love to race round and go looney.

 

Make sure everythings out of reach and you put them in a room with a cleanable floor.

 

I use the cheap woodbased litter for mine, works great. Scoop the sawdust out daily and empty tray when all pellets break down.

Easier than shavings as you dont need to throw it all out.

Yeh, I let my 5 into the porch at the back for a wee run about, cue mayhem and destruction all round.

when me or the missus goes into the porch it`s like a ferret ninja movie !! lol

I have our ferrets in every day, and they love it Yes, they do poop but they always do it in the same corner so i put paper there so it's dead easy to clean up.

 

We love watching them play, they're all completely bonkers when they come in.....it's hilarious ! Waaay better than watching boring crap on telly.
