Alex Arrigone 24
hey all, i am looking to get an fac licence, the paperwork is all filled in. the question i have is about the land. when the police investigators come to check if the land is suitable what is there checklist? as in how big the land has to be and what would restrict the tick in the box (houses, cattle...)? all the help possible would be amazing! thank you Quote Link to post
halamrose 24
There are no hard and fast rules, all you can do is get them to have a look at it. Quote Link to post
TWOTWOTHREE 152
Make the Feo feel confident that You know all the safe back stops and safe lines of fire.learn the land it looks good if You know every tractor rut to to tree stump.if You dont know it already.Land size is not an issue .before i got my ticket on open condition i got .22Lr and .17 hmr on 40 acres.was granted .223 centre fire on 200 acres.when i applied years ago i was under the impression that You needed stacks of land well its not the case.i know a bloke who has been granted a rimfire on his 5 acre small holding.there is nothing set in stone on how land should be.as long as its safe to shoot You wont have a problem.have You asked if the land has been passed before? I ring everytime i get a new permission and they always tell me over the phone what calibre im allowed to shoot as i only have open condition on both my rimfires not on .223.if they confirm its ok for the larger cal i can send permission letter and its sorted.atb rich Edited October 12, 2011 by TWOTWOTHREE Quote Link to post

matt_hooks 188
Alex, size isn't everything. I got my FAC on less than 50 acres, cleared for "full bore" which the FEO said was basically anything up to .308. I just made sure I knew the land well (not difficult as it's where I work three days a week) and could tell him all the safe lines of fire, where I was planning to put a high seat, where I was planning to use as a zero range etc. It helped that a nice group of Roe decided to grace us with their presence on the day he visited of course!
