secretagentmole 1,701
A place 30 miles away from me is selling Tasco 3-9x50 illuminated reticule mildot scopes, new, for £39.95. Are Tasco a good scope? Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Yes I used one on my r10 for a year and it never let me down. I got mine from hong kong. Si Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Place near Boston has a few at £40 (well £39.95, as we have bought rat traps and poison from him in the past and will collect £35), think I may just get one. Seems Tasco have gone under so this is probably liquidation stock. Hopefully might be getting something else, if I do, will put a few pics up and let you know what I think to it. This might be going on the something else, if not, it will sit happily on Marina! Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
In all honesty Moley, I'd tread very carefully with Tasco nowadays. They were once a giant company that did a lot of good in making great quality scopes affordable to air rifle shooters. And they did it at a time when the alternatives were serious money telescopic sights designed for rimfire/centrefire rifles. Those days are long gone, and the stuff they made under various managements has veered from great to crap. I've been shooting for over 40 years man and boy; and the only way to get real value for money is look more carefully at what you are buying. Not how much it costs on the ticket. Cheap is usually junk in this sport Moley mate. Simon Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
OK, point taken, also because Tasco have done a submarine there is no manufacturer support! Something I have to consider carefully! Mole is being cautious! Cannot find any bad reviews on it though, so this might be a good one! Might in capital letters that is! andyfr1968 772
Have a look at the JSR/Leapers scopes too, Mole. Very good value and strongly built with springers in mind. I use a not very fasionable 2-7x32 on my Diana and it really is one of the nicest airgun scopes I've ever used. Very clear, enough mag for me and built especially for higher recoiling springers. It's as good in low light as pretty much any scope I've used before in spite of it's 32mm lense. Cheers. Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Will do, but it might not be going to be put on a springer (starts whistling "happy birthday to me"), could be going on a PCP, just waiting to see what happens on Thursday! Quote Link to post
jackinbox99 41
Yes I used one on my r10 for a year and it never let me down. I got mine from hong kong. Si Same here, I only needed a cheap scope, so got a cheap tasco 3-12x50 IR scope off the bay from china. My shooting mates were so impressed with it, they all went out and bought them too. secretagentmole 1,701
Think Mole will aquire with caution, will let you all know if it is any good, so if any of you are looking for a cheap IR scope you can get in touch... If people are that impressed with them, could be worth a punt! Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
OK Chaps! Mole has the scope and has some new information for you. These puppies have a Range Finder reticle. 3-9 x 50, red and green illumination with varying light level. I like it, I really really like it! I really really really like it. Holds well, mind you the gun it is on has no recoil! Bargain chaps! Edited to say that the mounts that come with it are crap. I got a set of Hawke 25mm sport mounts instead! secretagentmole 1,701
They have now sold out folks (I hate to say who got the last two for an AA T200 and a BSA Super Ten)! Quote Link to post
