owen 11
i dont normally post much on this site due to all the shit that gets put up and the shitty replys alot do, its suppose to be a working terrier forum so i thought ide share a day out on a call out, i got a call from a pal that does shooting more then anything saying that a farmer friend on his had been having afew problems through lambing time, plus on the land they have a small 8 gun syndicate to which they'd had afew bird loses through the season, my pal had tried with the lamp and gun but old charlie had always been one step in front and abit lamp shy, so i made arrangements for a day with terriers to see if i could help, i met up with my pal and we had a drive through to farm and after abit of a chat with farmer we set of for a mooch about, we came to afew earths on a dyke side but they didnt look much and mainly run with rabbits and the dog said nothing at home, we moved on abit further down the dyke and came to a 2 holer to which the old terrier gave us a mark, so we collard a young red dog up that has only had 2 digs to his name and let him of, it was very tight for the young un and after about 20 mins we got a steady mark at 1.2 ish, we soon was through to him but it was tight for him to push on so we cleared it out for him and he push up only another ft or so and had things under control, we lifted him out and dispatch a very small vixen, we then moved on to other side of farm to a biggish earth my pal new about, it was on flat land of around 8 holes in some small trees that have only been planted acouple of years, the old bitch gave us a mark again, so we let her of, she seemed to get the run about for a good half hour before settling in one spot, we gave her another 15 mins before starting the dig at 1.1, we soon had her out with a fat dog fox that was humanly dispatched, we tried the terrier again thinking they might be a vixen with him but the dog said nothing else, all in all not abad day out and the farmer was a happier man, 5 Quote Link to post
