You've named one option, there's also the jill jab and also they can remain in season without dieing although you would be forgiven for thinking otherwise after reading some of the things on the 'net. Rake aboot 4,935
The issues with not mating them are ,, they are open to infection the longer they are in heat, also, they can ,and do quite often ,develop anemea by staying in heat too long, this is a killer for jills. My view,, get them out of season,, safer ,easier and more responsible. Or be like some others and just let them get on with it and hope nothing goes wrong !!! Quote Link to post
The one 8,468
No you dont need to mate them so they stay in season till the shortening of days brings them out if they dont get the jill jab ,and there loosing condition all that time and end up as rough as feck thats a great way to treat a ferret Quote Link to post

You mention the jill jab but have you heard of any side effects the jab has caused? I can remember last year reading on another forum about jills developing tumours after having the jill jab and wondered how common that was? Quote Link to post

Yes im aware of the side affects of the jill jab and ive only used it once years ago and after reading up on it never used it again , ages ago my hob died suddenly in the middle of the summer and when my jills came back in i thought sod it ,its August they will be coming out in Sseptember anyway and i will get a hob kit and get him snipped next year ready for the jills . My older jills looked rough as feck with in a month and i borrowed a snipped hob to bring them out of season Each to there own but im running a snipped hob with my jills from now on Quote Link to post

Which would assume you are pro the jill jab yet above you admit there are side effects from using it and after reading up on the subject you never used it again. As I value your opinion can I ask if you would advise the use of the jill jab as a safe and effective way of bringing a jill out of season? Just recently I've read about implants, have you any experience of them? Again any input will be appreciated. Quote Link to post
The one 8,468
The only methord i go with mate is a snipped hob with ten jills it costs me pennies over the course of his life time to bring my lot out of season three and four times a year .I only used the jill jab once when my hob died as i needed something done with my jills but after reading it up and speaking to other's im in no rush to use it again ,the same with implant's after they have been on the go a good few years and are tried and tested them i might swap over .
