converting hardtop vitara to pick up..can it be done?

Recommended Posts

hi folks....i have an old vitara jlx ...recently had bit of a set to with a ditch so its now a little tatty...a mate of mine is a blacksmith and has offered to do some project work on it for me to jazz it up...its just the standard hardtop 1600 at the mo..i already took the rear seats out for more space....he thought it would be cool to make it into a small pick up...i do a fair bit of shooting and have some woodland to tear around in...it will all be chequer plated liners with roll bars and supports etc...obviously there is no pillars in place as there are with the convertables so would need to put a strentgthening bar in also....just wondered if anyone has done this before, maybe you have some tips and pointers..do's and donts....any advice tips will be greatly appreciated.

thanks

if you mess up a bit ya can always just use the chassis and running gear and build a buggy, i turned my discovery into a bobtail, (rotton straight through)

if your interested in the buggy route theres muddybuggy.co.uk too!
