shotgun licence

Recommended Posts

Whilst each case will be judged on its merrits, these are not as far as I can remember things you will be asked about. So ask yourself for your own concience how you will ensure that they never have access to your guns. Sure they will be locked up most of the time and the locaton of the key kept secret (even from the firearms officers), but you need to leave them out to warm up and dry out somtimes.

Go ahead with your application - there is little to loose.

hi all, i want to apply for a shotgun licence and i live in the same house as my mom and dad, but my dad has a history of depression and my little bro's got and autism, so is that a good enough reason to turn me down for it

thanks callum

In my opinion I can't see what your dad and brother have got to do with it really.....at the end of the day it is only you that will have the key and access to the shotguns .

I even know someone who has suffered from bouts of depression and he was granted his SGC. Don't worry .

Id approach this in 2 ways. You can either apply and not mention anything about your family. Or, if you want, you could phone up your local FEO and ask their opinion. All the FEO`s ive met are friendly people and more than happy to help.

I suspect it might cause problems for an FAC, but the police have to show that YOU are not a "fit person" to hold an SGC. As long as you don't have a medical history showing that you are as mad as a snake you should be OK. Anyway, if you don't ask you won't get! The worst they can do is say no FFS!
