baldockbanks courser 598
YES HE DID SAY THE DOG JACKED ! ! ! " my mates 11 month old pup " PULLED up " on a stinger of a run" ! did you not read the topic title ????? if thats not jacking what is. And im not going into what happened with my terreir on here to someone I dont know but shes over 3 year old had plenty of chances Iv tried every way to get her to do her job. I only started her after she was 2 and a half. they dont all work. thats not a jacker, the lad doesn't seem to know the score with this situation all he knows is the dog stopped running and wants to know if it will happen again. read into the situation not just the words. the dog DID NOT JACK. he burned out, without doubt. plus my friend you have just proven to everyone you are in no position to comment on this topic and tell this inexperienced guy what to do. first time stopping for this dog rit..... you say "shoot it", yet you say about your terrier that you gave it several chances and kept trying it.. so obviously YOU didn't "shoot it" when i thought you were a firm believer in this type of thing.... and you go on further to say that the dog was 2.5 years old, approx 30months right, approx 19 months older than the lurcher you have a gun pointed at for trying its heart out. you waited till yours was mature to make sure she wasn't gonna do it.and mithe i add sahe is ovr 3 now and still alive... strange. i think mate you will find you have just proved all my previous points, and in an argumentative way you are agreeing with me..... oh and i wasn't asking the about your terrier in any way, you brought up the comment on your terrier. this thread is not about you im afraid, i just used your earlier statement about your dog to use it as an example, i think most of us that tried to give an honest opionon to an honest question are saying the same thing so i guess we cant all be wrong baldockbanks.did YOU not read the previous posts......atb If a dog can see is quarry and stops running it has jacked. It sounds like what you know about coursing you could put on a postage stamp. Whats the name of the good match dogs youv had mate? Ill ask a few lads if theve herd of it? The reason I didnt try the terreir bitch till she was that age was I didnt have the permission I have got till recentlie. to be honest I think me and you expect diffrent things from a terreir and lurcher. I give mine proper tests to end up with dogs worth breeding stock from. save me the bother of another twenty page answer please will agree to differ if you think a lurcher stopping behind a hare is exceptable. i dont agree with ya baldocks,,, some dogs dont have that kind of staminar,, it dont make them a jacker,,, if your dog runs a hare for lets say 10 mins then pulls up cos its fecked has it jacked,,,,, cors it aint its just reached its own LIMIT evry animal on earth has a LIMIT its just with top coursing dogs there limit is longer than your avrage lurcher. JACKING is a dog that stands watching game run off with no intent on catching it. 10 mins tomo jesus you must have some dogs on ! I have seen a fair few dogs burn. and before I had proper hare dogs I used to have an old fashioned rough lurcher. I must have run her on 100s hares she barley caught any but shed run till they were out of site no matter how far they went. even if they are getting pulled about they should still keep running In my mind. Rabbit dog on a hare it may have been but most of us started that way and I remember them odd kills and going home with it to dad with me chest sticking out like a barrel. I've been a lucky chap since and had some fair dogs but dont think I've ever been more proud. Happy days ATB 1 Quote Link to post

fox digger 1,086
the long and the short of this topic is looking for opinions on the dog. nobody is entitled to critise anyone else's opinions. ive only been on this a short while and it seems you always get one or two lads who bicker and go off in a tangent to the actual topic and end up with one of two things, 1- the enivitable my dog is better than yous and come over and i'll prove it..... or 2- acting the lad and talking about punching the head off lads........ stick to the hunting opinions lads. paddy should come back to us in a few months and let us know how the dog does once rested and a bit more experienced, atb. But I think there will always be a point when banter gets to a point where after so many times of people saying my dogs this and your dogs arent that, when a man has to stop talking, dogs dont run on computer screens and if someones confident in his and his dogs abilitys in the feild ( yes the real world ) he can show there worth then its in the other sides court to put or shut up. The same can be said of someone who keeps insulting people ther will be a point where the line is crossed. Quote Link to post
baldockbanks courser 598
People who lay in to people should also rember that alough were all safely behind the computer screen now, with a little bit of detective work from someone youv insulted you could always get a tap on the shoulder at a game fair or the like. Then it really is put up or shut up and if your not the kind of person who can hold there hands up and look after your self your comments could come back and bit you on the arse. just treat people fairly.
