pegleg33 134
out of the three suggested which would be the best layers and which have the best temperaments?
darbo 4,776
i have had welsummers and barnevelders. found generally the eggs are not as dark as the large fowl.laying wise there was not much difference between my birds. temperament wise found the barnevelder a easy bird to own calm docile. found the welsummer a little on the flighty side. both types hardy birds. sorry have no experience of marans. dont keep these now settled on light sussex bantams. i like to my birds to hatch out some eggs each year. the sussex make great broodies. the welsummers and barnevelders i owned never went broody. but they were nice birds to own. artic 595
out of the three suggested which would be the best layers and which have the best temperaments? I have both and the welsummers have better temperaments. The marans do tend to bully and feather peck other hens. Both good layers and very hardy.
